Modified Atmosphere Packaging

Modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) is used by Jampol as a mean of extending shelf life. The air is removed from the space above the mushrooms as they are being packed by flushing the package with an inert gas such as carbon dioxide or nitrogen. MAP extends shelf-life and preserves the high quality of naturally preserved mushrooms. Also increases shelf-life quality in the distribution chain.

All packaging materials used comply with the following requirements:

  1. Food Safety Act (1991)
  2. FDA requirements for food contact.
  3. CONEG regulations regarding limits on use of heavy metals
  4. EC Directive 94/62/EC regarding limits on use of heavy metals.
  5. UK Statutory Instrument 1995 No. 204, for substance migration.
  6. BRC/IOP technical standard
